Screenprinting final, REPKO. 

My Final project is inspired by the rockclimbing culture, and the spirit of the rockclimber. Over the summer I spent a couple months traveling through France and Switzerland, camping with 8 friends of mine, all avid climbers and every campsite we stayed at was inhabited with other climbers. The spirit of the community was amazing to experience, and to learn slowly why it is they climb, what it brings to them personally.

Through the months we traveled, I kept a small compact sketchbook, where I would write about the people we were meeting, things I was learning, places I was getting to see that otherwise I would never travel to. I would often go for walks into nearby villages or further into the countryside and sit for an hour or so and sketch what I was looking at, documenting the atmosphere. It was a pretty overwhelming time, and that sketchbook has been a huge resource for my final prints.

Overall I have come up with 6 prints that are meant to be kept together as a small series. I hope that the collection exudes some of the spirit of the people I was surrounded by, aswell as the beauty of their lives at that time, in that context of the traveling climber.
